The budget session of the federal Parliament is beginning on Monday. Upon a recommendation from the Council of Ministers, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called the first joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly for 4 pm today.
This session, also known as the monsoon session, will endorse the government’s annual policy and programme and the budget statement.
As per the constitution, the Finance Minister will table the annual budget on May 29.
Meanwhile, the government is preparing to present the annual policy and programme before the pre-budget discussion this time. Sources inform that the government asked the Federal Parliament Secretariat to change the schedule owing to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s scheduled foreign trip.
President Bhandari is scheduled to present the annual policy and programme this Friday.
The Secretariat says it has prepared 27 other bills for the House of Representatives and eight for the National Assembly during this session.
