ICC wants suspension on Nepal lifted by June 2017: CEO Richardson

David-Richardson

Kathmandu, September 4

CEO of cricket’s world governing body David Richardson says the ICC wants to see suspension of Nepal’s cricket body lifted, latest by June 2017.

Richardson, who is leading a three-member ICC delegation to Nepal, said the council and the government of Nepal have agreed to form an advisory committee to review CAN’s charter, recommend changes to it, and to hold elections at the earliest.

The CEO, who was speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu, said the advisory committee will be led by ICC’s Amar Sheikh until the ICC appoints an official to take over from its Global Development Manager Tim Aderson, who recently vacated the position.

The composition of the committee will be decided within the next two weeks, said Richardson.

The ICC delegation earlier met Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and is likely to continue its consultation with members of the cricket community in Nepal.
