Kathmandu, September 7
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said on Wedensday that these are challenging times for Nepal’s civil service.
The biggest challenge is to decentralise the civil service as per the spirit of federalism, he said, appealing civil servants to focus on welfare of the country and the people in keeping with changing times and priorities.
PM Prachanda said this at a programme organised in Kathmandu on the occasion of Public Service Day, adding that the civil service has on its shoulders the important task of implementing the new Constitution.
Federalism is a new experiment in the context of Nepal, Prachanda said, adding that it offers both opportunities and challenges.
We do not have rich experience in implementation of federalism, so we should learn from other countries’ experiences to design federalism that suits Nepal.
Such opportunities come rarely, he said, adding that failure to adopt federalism properly results in challenges. We do not have rich experience in implementation of federalism, so we should learn from other countries’ experiences to design federalism that suits Nepal.
He said the government is committed to increasing the capacity of civil servants and their political stakeholders.
