Indian sand smugglers breach border at Parsa district, clash with Nepal’s law enforcement officials

Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel clashed with a group of Indian smugglers while they were mining sand from Auraha Stream in Piparari VDC, Parsa district, on Wednesday. Two people — an APF officer and a smugglers — were reportedly injured in the clash.

The group (of Indian smugglers) pelted stones at a team comprising NP and APF personnel on patrol, triggering a clash, Parsa Chief District Officer Keshav Raj Ghimire informed. As smugglers pelted stones, Nepali security personnel retaliated and brought the situation under control by firing tear gas canisters.

In the beginning, Indian security personnel did not stop smugglers. Later, Nepali and Indian sides held talks and brought the situation under control
