Heavy snowfall blanketed the mountainous regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces on Monday, disrupting daily life in the Himalayan areas while benefiting crops.
The snowfall, which followed recent rainfall, occurred due to a drop in temperatures in the high hills and mountainous areas. This marks the first snowfall of the year in districts such as Darchula, Achham, Bajhang, Humla, and Doti.
In Humla, snowfall was reported in Simkot, the district headquarters, and northern areas like Chala, Limi, Hilsa, and Yari of Namkha Rural Municipality. Similarly, snow covered regions such as Khandeshwori, Rapla, and Ghusa in Darchula. Badikedar Rural Municipality in Doti also experienced snowfall throughout the day.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather remained cloudy to overcast in parts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Koshi Provinces, while other regions reported partial cloud cover. Dense fog was observed across most of the central and eastern Tarai, with some areas experiencing light mist.
