After a hiatus of four years, Nepal Airlines, the flag-carrier, is operating its direct flight to Dubai, the UAE, on Thursday.

At 11.30 pm, NA’s 158-seater A-320 Airbus will leave for Dubai.

Ram Hari Sharma, spokesperson for the NA, told Onlinekhabar they will provide what he called ‘special treat’ to passengers on board the flight marking the resumption of NA’s Dubai operation.

The flag-carrier will fly thrice a week — on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday — to Dubai from Kathmandu. NA flights will leave for Kathmandu from Dubai on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The flag-carrier will fly thrice a week — on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday — to Dubai, a job destination for Nepali migrant workers, from Kathmandu. NA flights will leave for Kathmandu from Dubai on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Five years ago, NA used to operate four flights to Dubai every week. It had stopped flying to Dubai after grounding of its wide-body planes and inability to purchase new aircraft.

Through the Dubai operation, NA aims to earn one billion rupees in a year by catering to more than 40,000 passengers.

NA had started operating commerical flights to Dubai 22 years ago and stopped the operation four years ago. The Kathmandu-Dubai flight, according to NA, will take a little more than 4.5 hours. Flying from Dubai to Kathmandu will take 4.25 hours.

With the resumption of its Dubai operation, NA will be operating along eight international destinations.

Currently, NA is operating along Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Bangkok, New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Doha sectors.

And it is making effort to bring in two wide-body aircraft within 1-1.5 years. NA will also start flying to Guangzhou in the near future, according to Sharma.
