Nepal govt forms languages commission; Awasthi is chair

Kathmandu, September 8

Nepal’s Cabinet has formed a commission under the leadership Dr Lavadev Awasthi to recommend the use of languages in the federal setup in Nepal.

Awasthi is Secretary at the Ministry of General Administration, and has served at the Ministry of Education in the past.

The commission has been formed in accordance with the provisions of the new constitution.

The commission suggest ways to develop and put into use various languages spoken in Nepal.

Similarly, the government has decided to send a delegation led by Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun to attend the NAM Summit in Venezuela next week.
