Kathmandu, February 7
The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat, Oman, has officially begun issuing labour permits to Nepali workers legally employed in the country who have not previously obtained such permits from Nepal.
This marks the first live enrollment for the legalisation of labour permits in a foreign country, which commenced on January 31, in Salalah, Oman. The new provision is expected to facilitate Nepali workers in accessing various benefits under the Government of Nepal’s policies, according to a statement issued by the Embassy on Tuesday.
Nepal’s Ambassador to Oman, Dornath Aryal, expressed confidence that the service would significantly benefit Nepali workers. He also emphasized the importance of contributing to the social security fund, sending remittances through legal channels, and adhering to the laws, traditions, and culture of the host country.
Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment, Surya Bahadur Khatri, congratulated all involved in this milestone initiative and highlighted its significance. Nepali workers in Oman welcomed the service, which the Embassy provides alongside passport renewal and other consular services.
To obtain a labour permit, workers must create a profile in the FEIMS system, upload necessary documents, submit an online application, and visit the Embassy for biometric verification.
