The protesters were sporting slogans demanding action against police officials behind forced disappearances of their kin and arrest of Bal Krishna Dhungel, whom the Supreme Court had found guilty of killing Sajjan Kumar Shrestha in Okhaldhunga district, during the conflict period. They were urging the government to guarantee human rights, make public the status of disappeared people and end impunity.

Police said they took the protesters under control as the protesters tried to enter the prohibited zone and block vehicular movement.
