Fungling (Taplejung), September 4
The Suketar Airport which has remained closed for over three months due to unfavourable weather conditions has resumed flight services. Chief of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) Station Office Narayan Kumar Karki informed that the NAC has resumed flights to and from the airport since Wednesday.
He said, “Resuming flight service at the airport with improved weather has become possible. Although the NAC had scheduled flights from the airport a few weeks ago, it could not occur due to adverse weather conditions”.
He shared that Wednesday’s flight has shown possible travel arrangements though the weather has not completely improved. NAC has set only one flight a week at present, which will be operated on every Wednesday till September 15.
If the weather remains normal and the number of passengers go up, the NAC will increase the flight schedule. The flight service has been suspended at the Suketar Airport since May 24 after the onset of the rainy season.
