Two engineers arrested with drugs worth Rs 6.5 lakh

Nabin Raj Bastola and Mahesh Gaire after their arrest in Danda, Rupandehi. The two said they got into drug trade to repay loans their families had taken for their education.

An Armed Police Force team arrestedd two engineers with huge amount of narcotics at Danda, Rupandehi district. Police identified the arrestee as civil engineer Nabin Raj Bastola (28) of Sauraha Farsatikar-1, Rupandehi, and IT engineer Mahesh Gaire (28) of Farsatikar-2.

APF DSP Shankar Khanal said an APF team arrested the two while they were smuggling the drugs into Nepal from the bordering Indian territory of Sunauli.

Drugs

According to Khanal, the team seized 2,000 bottles of Phenergan and Nitravet, Rs 23,00, among other drugs, three mobile phone sets, laptops and the bike numbered Lu 18 Pa 9381 they had used in pushing the drugs into Nepal. The seized drugs are wroth around Rs 6.5 lakh, Khanal informed.

Citing preliminary interrogation reports, Tulasi Ram Pandey, APF inspector at Danda, said the two youths used to get Rs 30,000 each for supplying drugs to designated locations.

During interrogation, Banstola and Gaire reportedly said they got into drug smuggling to repay loan their families had taken for their education.
