Kathmandu, August 17

Nepal’s principal opposition party CPN-UML has decided to pile pressure on the government to not to amend the erstwhile government’s decision to hold local elections in November.

The party’s standing committee meeting on Wednesday also decided to mobilise its cadres to make sure that the government does not backtrack on local elections, said UML leader Yogesh Bhattarai.

The Oli government had said it will hold local elections in November, provincial elections in April, and Parliamentary elections in November next year.

The party has concluded that leaders in government are planning to postpone the elections, and the move was aimed at delaying the implementation of the constitution.
