Kathmandu, September 2
Deep Kumar Upadhyay has been nominated Nepal’s ambassador to India and former chief secretary Leela Mani Poudyal envoy to China.
According to the government’s spokesperson, the recommendations were made ahead of the imminent visits of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to India and the Indian and Chinese presidents to Kathmandu.
Upadhyay was Nepal’s envoy to India until the KP Oli government recalled him alleging he was involved in plot to at topple the government.
Poudyal, who has served as Nepal’s representative in Lhasa, was Nepal’s chief secretary between 2012-2015.
The duo will now face Parliamentary hearing before being appointed to their posts.
