Design and display
Vivo Y1s comes with a simple design as a budget phone should have. It has a glass front, a plastic back and a plastic frame. It has a waterdrop notch at the front that houses a camera and at the back, there is a single camera at the top left and just below the camera resides an LED flash. The branding of Vivo on the back has been done elegantly and does not look nice. Also, the aurora blue and olive black finish of the phone looks pleasant. With 8.28mm of thickness, the phone weighs lightly at just 161 grams.
There is no fingerprint sensor on the phone.
There is a 6.22-inch HD+ IPS LCD display on the phone with a maximum resolution of 720*1,520 pixels and an 88.6% screen-to-body ratio. Like other Vivo smartphones, it also can filter out harmful blue light to prevent eye strain.
Camera
There is not much on the camera section in Vivo Y1s. It has a single 13MP camera on the back with an aperture of f/2.2 while there is a 5MP camera on the front. Accompanying the camera on the back is the flashlight, which resides just below the camera. You can only capture videos up to 1080p at 30fps on this phone, while except for the normal video and photo, the user can also capture time-lapse videos with the phone.
Performance and battery life
Vivo Y1s runs on Funtouch OS 10.5 which is based on Android 10. The phone is powered by Mediatek Helio P35 while the graphics are handled by PowerVR GE8320.
There is a 4030mAh non-removable Li-ion battery that provides power to the phone. The phone also supports exclusive smart power management that keeps the phone going for a longer period.
Storage and connectivity
Vivo Y1s has an internal storage of 32GB. It can be expanded with a micro SD card and the phone has a dedicated slot for it. Currently, this is the only version the company is offering. However, the user has the option to choose between 2GB and 3GB of RAM space.
The phone supports dual sims with a 4G network and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and supports only 2.4G. For further connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 and also has a 3.5mm for audio connectivity. The phone also supports FM radio.
The price of Vivo Y1s is Rs 13,999 for 2GB/32GB and Rs 14,999 for 3GB/32GB variants.
Verdict
With this price range, Vivo Y1s competes with the likes of Samsung Galaxy M01, Galaxy M01s, Galaxy M02, Galaxy M02s, Galaxy A03s, Xiaomi Poco C3, Redmi 9C. Since this is a budget smartphone, it has adequate features like all other smartphones on the list in a similar price range.
It has an entry-level processor, an okay battery back-up and an entry-level camera. Other smartphones offer a better battery backup, more cameras and Samsung M02s even provide a faster charging option. Vivo Y1s comes lighter than most of its competitors though, weighing only 161 grams. This can be an interesting challenge for Vivo since Mi and Samsung smartphones are already dominating in this category.
