Biratnagar, February 10
A 14-year-old girl has been reportedly gang-raped in Jahada rural municipality-1 of Morang earlier this week.
The child was out of her house to answer nature’s call at around 9 pm on Monday when two motorbike-borne people assaulted her, according to police.
The attackers, yet to be arrested, forced her to ride on their bike and took away somewhere, police inform. After the girl did not return, her guardians had called their neighbours for help.
At around 11, some locals also began the search and informed police within hours. They found the child in the wee hours the next morning.
Then, she told the villagers that she was raped.
Police Inspector Deepak Thapa says they confiscated a motorbike used in the crime (Ko 22 Pa 1816) but the suspects are at large. The official, however, claims they are already identified.
“The villagers created noise during the search, and they fled to India leaving the motorbike,” he guesses, “We could have nabbed them if we had been informed quite earlier.”
The incident site is around two kilometres away from the border.
