The Indian start-up company Ultraviolette Automotive‘s first official electric bike, the Ultraviolette F77 is set to launch in Nepal. Founded in 2016 in Bengaluru, India, the startup unveiled its electric bike in 2019, with deliveries kicking off in early 2023 in India.
The electric bike when officially unveiled in 2019 was a headliner. Over the years leading up to the deliveries, significant changes were made, encompassing design, chassis, and battery. It currently stands as the fastest electric bike in India.
With its modern looks and power-packed performance, the Ultraviolette F77 has received very positive reviews in India. However, there are still lingering questions about the bike’s weight and price.
Ultraviolette also unveiled their next electric bike the Ultraviolette F99 in EICMA this year which looks and performs out of the world on paper. The F99 is a fully-faired sports electric bike that is set to launch in early 2025.
Can the futuristic-looking electric bike do the same in Nepal?
Let us see what it offers in terms of specs.

Design
The Ultraviolette F77 has a modern aerodynamic and futuristic look. It is a naked sports electric bike but has a side profile of a fully-faired sports bike. The fairing covers the huge battery and frame inside.
The fairings also have small winglets and active air vents which direct the air to the electric motor with cool air which in turn cools down the motor for better performance during high speeds.
The front of the bike has a slanted LED headlamp setup. The LED DRLs are in a U-shape. The headlights are slanted quite a bit, which helps reduce drag and lead the lights to a wider angle. The LED indicators are just beside the headlights. The suspension setup also has covers, making the electric bike look more aggressive.
The rear of the F77 also has an LED setup including taillights and indicators. The fender is slightly flimsy. The seats for the rider and the pillion are quite soft.
Even though the styling is of a naked sports bike, the posture can be a bit like that of a sports bike with a huge tank and the driver seat position. The charging port is situated on the top of the tank like other motorbikes.
The F77 has a 5-inch TFT display which is advanced and has an intuitive user interface. It displays speed, modes, trip, time, battery percentage, mileage and network connectivity. It has three ride modes; guide, combat and ballistic.
Another exciting feature of the electric bike, the F77, is its absence of a gearbox and clutch lever. If you are accustomed to riding traditional motorcycles, this might initially be confusing when transitioning to the electric bike.
Performance
The Ultraviolette F77 is a powerhouse on two wheels with its Permanent Magnet AC Motor. The throttle control is managed through ride-by-wire technology. Ride-by-wire doesn’t use wires which connect the accelerator(throttle) to the throttle body. The tech uses a sensor which is connected to the ECU which helps in different things such as improved performance, safety and flexibility.
The F77 has an impressive peak power of 27 kW and peak torque of 85 Nm for the standard version and a peak power of 29 kW and peak torque of 95 Nm for the Recon model. With the power the standard variant has a top speed of 140 km/h and the Recon has a top speed of 147 km/h. The standard model has an acceleration from 0 to 60 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and hits 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, while the Recon variant takes it up, reaching 0-60 km/h in 3.1 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds.
Backing the performance of the F77 is an SRB7 battery pack for the standard and an SRB10 battery pack for the Recon. The standard version has a 7.1 kWh capacity, while the Recon steps up with a larger 10.3 kWh capacity. This delivers an IDC range of 206 Km in the Std model whereas an IDC range of 307 Km in the Recon model. Charging times vary with the standard charger, taking around 5-6 hours for the standard variant and 8-9 hours for the Recon model. There is also an optional boost charger which can speed up the charging.
The Ultraviolette F77 has a sturdy Steel Trellis frame complemented by an Aluminum bulkhead. The frame also has crash guards to protect the electric bike. The suspension setup includes an Upside-down Telescopic fork at the front, with the Recon model adding preload adjustability for personalisation. The rear mono-shock is also preload adjustable which handles bumps pretty well.
When it comes to braking, the F77 is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes featuring dual-channel BOSCH ABS. The front has a Fixed 4-radial piston type calliper with a 320mm disc, while the rear has a Single piston floating calliper type with a 230mm disc. The tyre includes a 110/70 R17 at the front and 150/60 R17 at the rear.
Connectivity, Safety and Features
The Ultraviolette F77 comes equipped with LTE connectivity and an integrated eSIM. Wi-Fi capabilities support 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards along with Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility to improve connectivity. It also has GPS/GLONASS positioning for accurate and reliable navigation assistance. The F77 also has an app with which riders can connect to the bike and see all the information about the bike.
The Ultraviolette F77 has a range of safety features like Dual-Channel ABS, a Traction Control system to prevent wheelspin, and three Ride Modes; Glide, Combat, and Ballistic for various conditions. The crash detection system is integrated for safety during collision. It also has Geofencing for security by allowing riders to set virtual boundaries for the bike’s movement. Moreover, the F77’s battery safety measures are robust, employing a Multi-Level Protection System, IP67-rated enclosure, advanced cell chemistry, and a Battery Management System to safeguard against mechanical, thermal, electrical, and software issues.
