Kathmandu, February 7
Four more Nepali footballers have left for Australia.
On Tuesday, Aashish Chaudhary, Sesehang Angdembe and Simanta Thapa, who have played in the national team, along with goalkeeper Anish Deula boarded flights for Australia.
Due to the absence of regular domestic football, many footballers have opted to seek opportunities abroad. Over the past two years, a significant number of players who have represented the national team have left for Australia.
Chaudhary was instrumental in winning the A Division with Church Boys United last year. He scored his first goal for Nepal during the SAFF Championship 2023. Following that, Chaudhary said he had a lot to offer to Nepali football. However, less than a year later, his perspective shifted. In the recently concluded Nepal Super League, he was the marquee player for Dhangadhi FC.
Chaudhary had also signed a contract with Machhindra FC for the recently concluded Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup, however, he did not play in the tournament.
Angdembe, who left Tribhuvan Army FC and signed a contract with Machhindra FC, also did not play.
Simant Thapa, who led Jawalakhel Youth Club in the A Division League, represented Birgunj United in the Nepal Super League. Additionally, Deula, the goalkeeper of Jawalakhel, participated in the Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup with Jawalakhel Youth Club in Pokhara. However, in the Nepal Super League, he served as the second-choice goalkeeper for Jhapa FC.
Following the departure of four players to Australia, the captain of the Nepali team, Kiran Kumar Limbu, expressed his sadness over the loss of four talented players from Nepal.
