Kathmandu, February 24
Efforts to locate the Tara Air plane, which went missing while flying to Jomsom from Pokhara on Wednesday morning, have not paid off so far.
A search is on in Rupse Bhir and other parts of Dana VDC in Myagdi district, on the suspicion that the plan may have crashed. Locals had reported hearing what appeared to be a crash. Bad weather has hampered search and rescue operations.
Tara Bahadur Karki, spokesperson for the Nepali Army, said an NA chopper is conducting a search. Cloudy weather conditions in Rupse and the vicinity have hampered the search. Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police personnel have mobilised for the search on the ground. Still, there’s no trace of the missing plane.
Karki said: The upper ridge of Rupse Bhir is located at an altitude of 9,000 feet. Clouds have enveloped the place and hampered the search. Troops will rush to the (probable crash) site once the chopper locates it.
