PM Oli’s India visit was fruitful, says Baburam Bhattarai

Biratnagar, February 26

Coordinator of the New Force and former prime minister, Baburam Bhattarai, has described Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent visit to India as ‘fruitful’.

Bhattarai, however, said lack of a joint communique at the end of Oli’s visit has also raised some suspicions.

“Talks with India have started. This is a good start,” he said, stressing the need to study some technical issues related with the visit in detail.

Baburam-BhattaraiBhattarai, on his way to Dharan, Sunsari district, was talking to journalists at Biratnagar on Friday. He said there’s a need to sort out disputes that have surfaced after the promulgation of the constitution through talks, without delay.

There’s a need for unity between different castes, linguistic groups and regions, Bhattarai said, laying stress on the need to bring peace and prosperity in the country by addressing issues related to provincial bondaries, among others, through dialogue.

Bhattarai spoke of his plan to establish the new force as an alternative force. He said the new force has risen with plans to make Nepal prosperous within a certain timeframe. He asked people to wait and watch his force perform rather than analysing its works right now.

Bhattarai did not comment on UCPN-Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal in which he had accused Bhattarai of being a ‘traitor’.  “Old forces try to cover its filth by mudslinging others. On the other hand, new forces try to remain clean and keep others clean. This is the difference between old and new forces,” he said, firing a salvo at Dahal.

Coordinator of the force’s Central Secretariat, Keshav Dahal, informed that the force will hold a two-day gathering of cadres at Dharan. The meeting will prepare the party’s stragety, he said. Bhattarai, Ganga Shrestha, Ashok Sharma, Devendra Poudel and other leaders have arrived at Sunsari to take part in the gathering.
