65 positions up for grabs at Nepali Congress’ 13th general convention

In the 13th general convention of the Nepali Congress, there will be elections for 65 positions.  The registration of candidacies for these posts is currently underway at the party office in Sanepa. The process began at 7 am on Friday and is scheduled to conclude five hours later.

At 2 pm, the party will publish the first list of candidates in alphabetical order. Dissatisfied people can lay claims related to candidacies, object to certain candidacies and seek amendments to the list of candidates on 2-5 pm. There will be investigations on the complaints up till 7 pm. Secretary of the Central Election Committee, Pradeep Parajuli, said: From 9 am to 11 am on Saturday, candidates can withdraw their candidatures. After 11 am, the committee will publish the final list of candidates.

From 8 am till 4 pm on Sunday, elections will take place for the 65 positions at City Hall. The committee has selected 3,298 representatives, who can cast their votes. Ballot papers will be used during the elections for various posts, Parajuli informed.

Ballots cast in the presidential race will be counted at City Hall, while votes cast in the contests for general secretary, treasurer and central committee member positions will be counted at the party office in Sanepa, Parajuli told Onlinekhabar.

NC Acting President Ramchandra Poudel, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Krishna Prasad Sitaula are in the fray for the post of party President, together with their panels.
