Voting for party leadership has begun at the Nepali Congress’ 13th general convention. Contenders for the post of party President, Sher Bahadur Deuba and Krishna Sitaula, cast their votes together.
Arjun Narsingh KC, contender for the post of general secretary from Deuba camp, also cast their vote and so did Sita Devi Yadav, vying for the post of treasurer from Ramchandra Poudel panel. Prakash Man Singh and Sujata Koirala also cast their votes at the City Hall.
Congress’ central election committee said voting will continue till 4 pm. Altogether 125 booths have been set up for voting during the general convention in which 3,161 representatives will choose party leadership for a period of four years. A total of 312 candidates are in the fray for 64 positions at the NC central working committee.
There are five different lines for representatives from five development regions. Candidates are busy asking these representatives for votes.
