Gorkha, April 20
Three people, including a police officer and two passengers, were injured when a group allegedly associated with Gorkha Transporters’ Committee vandalised two passenger buses at Finam of Gorkha district on Wednesday, police said. Police said they arrested two attackers along with swords and 2.5 litres of petrol.
The buses belonged to Arughat Transport Private Limited that started its operation along the Arughat-Gorkha Bazaar route on Wednesday itself.
Gorkha district police office said Gorkha Transporters’ Committee mobilised a group to attack the buses as the rival company’s entry into the route ended the syndicate system along the route, meaning the end of the committee’s monopoly there.
Goons have started attacking the new company’s buses with increasing frequency after it started operating buses along the route, ending GTC’s monopoly.
