Gorkha, November 12
A mother and son died in Dharche Rural Municipality in Gorkha after their house caught on fire on Saturday night.
The District Police Office in Gorkha has reported that Kanchi Gurung, aged 78, and her 39-year-old son, Chanar Singh Gurung, lost their lives in a house fire.
DSP Ramesh Kumar Shrestha said the house was gutted by the fire.
“We found their lifeless bodies in the house,” said Shrestha.
Ward chair Ram Singh Gurung said he received news about the fire at 10 pm on Saturday.
“When we got there, the fire had spread outside the house. It took us about an hour and a half to put out the fire using buckets of water. After we controlled the fire and went inside, we found the bodies of both people badly burnt and unrecognizable,” he said.
Police suspect the fire might have been triggered by a flame intended to heat the house. The police have stated that a comprehensive investigation into the incident is currently underway.
