Kathmandu, April 21
Student organisations have decided to press for the fulfillment of agreements reached with government and other stakeholders in the past.
A meeting of these organisations, held at the central office of Nepal Students’ Union in Kathmandu on Thursday, decided to press the government for the fulfillment of a 10-point agreement reached on April 19, 2015.
The meeting formed a taskforce comprising one representative each from these organisations. UP Lamichhane, NSU spokesperson, said they will launch programmes meant to put pressure on the government as per the taskforce’s recommendations. The taskforce has six days to submit its suggestions. Lamichhane said the next meeting of the organisations will decide on protest programmes meant to press the government for fulfillment of their demands.
Lamichhane said: We will once again appeal all stakeholders, including the government, for implementation of all related agreements reached in the past. If the stakeholders do not bother to implement the deals, we will have no option but to launch a movement.
The meeting also decided to reach an understanding on conducting Free Student Union elections early and appeal the government to end black marketing.
