Kathmandu, June 24
A group of student leaders affiliated to the main opposition Nepali Congress party’s student wing, Nepal Students Union, have burned the chair of Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Dharma Kanta Banskota on Wednesday.
The university’s Registrar Peshal Dahal says the students took out the chair of Banskota on the road and burned. The students also padlocked the offices of the VC, rector, and registrar.
The NSU University Campus Unit chief Hari Acharya says the students were forced to burn the chair as they were misbehaved while padlocking the offices.
Of late, the union has been protesting appointments of various university officials citing all of them were affliated with the ruling Nepal Communist Party.
