Kathmandu, April 29
Surya Kumar Chhetri, Nepal Press Union secretary, died in course of treatment in Kathmandu on Thursday night. Chhetri (33) breathed his last while undergoing treatment for brain tumor, at Annapurna Neuro Hospital.
Chhetri had undergone tumor-removing surgery two years ago and received treatment in India as well. He was admitted to the hospital after his health deteriorated.
Nepali Congress leaders Krishna Sitaula, Minendra Rijal, Gagan Thapa and actors, including Nir Shah, have arrived at the Nepal Academy to pay their tributes to Chhetri.
Chhetri, who hails from Syangja, has collected a number of Nepali folk songs, apart from writing folk-flavoured songs. He has also written scripts for Nepali films and worked with Ujyaalo FM.
