Kathmandu, November 24

A man and woman found dead at a hotel in Sinamangal have been identified as a married couple. The deceased were Ramesh Majhi, 34, and his wife Sharmila Majhi, 29, from Duhabi, Sunsari. According to SP Navaraj Adhikari of Kathmandu Police, the couple was discovered hanging from the railing of the balcony at Janmabhoomi Hotel in Sinamangal using cloth nooses.

Investigations revealed that the couple had returned to Kathmandu on Saturday after spending two years in Canada. They had initially moved to Canada in 2022. The police suspect the deaths may be a case of suicide triggered by personal or family issues, as the couple was found hanging shortly after checking into the hotel.

The Janmabhoomi Hotel, located in Ward 9 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City near the Prakash Sanyas Ashram road, is operated by Ramji Katuwal from Khotang, who rents the property from owner Parshuram Acharya. The couple arrived at the hotel around 6:45 pm on Saturday and checked into Room 120 on the fourth floor.
