Kathmandu, June 23
Police shot at and arrested gangster Purna Gurung alias Jasvant Gurung at Bijuli Bazaar, Kathmandu, on Thursday afternoon.
A team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division fired at Gurung in course of arresting him as he attacked the team with a rod, police said. Gurung has suffered leg injuries. He is receiving treatment at Bir Hospital.
Division Chief Sarbendra Khanal said police have received complaints accusing Gurung of collecting money from hotels and restaurants based in Kalimati and Kalanki areas.
Four days ago, Gurung had allegedly beaten three people for not giving him his cuts. Gurung has done time for murder attempts and other public offences.
