Kathmandu, July 7
The eighth national convention of the CPN-Maoist Centre will begin in Kathmandu from January 7, 2017. Thursday’s party politburo meeting held in Paris Danda, the party headquarters, fixed the date for the convention.
The Prachanda-led UCPN-Maoist had effected unification with 10 Maoist factions and parties, including the Ram Bahadur Thapa faction of the Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Revolutionary Maoist, Mani Thapa-led Revolutionary Communist Party and Matrika Yadav-led CPN-Maoist, leading to the formation of the CPN-Maoist Centre.
UCPN-Maoist and other factions had agreed to organise general convention after unification. The CPN-Maoist has turned all party committees into general convention organising committes.
