The government of Nepal has indicated that Nepali workers can be sent to Afghanistan if there’s what it called ‘full guarantee of their security.’

After a recent attack in Kabul that killed 14 Nepali workers, then KP Oli government had imposed a ban on sending Nepali workers to Afghanistan and three other countries. It had also formed a taskforce to study the situation of Nepali workers in Afghanistan.

The taskforce submitted its report to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Tuesday. The report states that Nepali workers can be sent to certain sectors in Afghanistan if there’s what it called ‘full guarantee’ of security of workers, including at the workplaces.

Nepali workers head to Afghanistan, mainly to work as security guards at United Nations offices and at foreign embassies based in the war-torn country.

Receiving the report from secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Bishnu Prasad Lamsal, at his official residence in Baluwatar, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said Nepali workers cannot be sent to Afghanistan unless and until there’s full guarantee of their security. This matter will be discussed in the Council of Ministers, PM Dahal’s press adviser Govinda Acharya quoted the PM as saying. Bishnu Prasad Lamsal
