Simikot, November 11
A cargo plane belonging to Makalu Air met with an accident at Simikot Airport, Humla district, on Friday morning. The flight with call sign 9N-AJG had originated in Surkhet and met with the accident while landing at Simikot.
According to Humla chief district officer Krishnna Bahadur Ghimire, there were two crew members on board the plane and both of them are alright.
Ghimire said smoke spewed from the plane while the plane was in the middle of the runway and its tyre burst while applying the brakes. The plane was then taken to the parking lot. It is currently undergoing technical test, Ghimire said.
After removal of the plane to the parking lot, the airport has reopened.
