Kathmandu, February 26
Host nation Nepal is set to take on Myanmar in the final of the International Women’s Championship at Dashrath Stadium on Wednesday. The match will kick off at 6:00 PM, and with the day being a public holiday, a larger crowd is expected to fill the stands.
The championship, which featured four nations, has seen both Nepal and Myanmar remain undefeated on their path to the final. Both teams registered victories against Lebanon and Kyrgyzstan while playing out a draw against each other in the league stage.
The ticket prices for the highly anticipated final have been doubled compared to the league-stage matches. General admission tickets, previously priced at Rs 500, will now cost Rs 1,000, while VIP seats have increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000.
Despite reaching their 13th final, Nepal’s women’s football team has yet to secure a championship title, having lost all 12 of their previous final appearances. History is also against them in their head-to-head record with Myanmar, as Nepal has failed to win in their five past encounters. Myanmar has won three times, while two matches ended in draws.
