India increases aid to Nepal

Kathmandu, February 2

India has increased its annual assistance to Nepal.

On Wednesday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley unveiled India’s budget for the fiscal 2017-18. in the Parliament. He made an announcement to this effect during the budget presentation.

For the current fiscal, India has alloated Rs 64.79 billion. More than half of India’s foreign aid goes to Bhutan. For this fiscal, it has allotted Rs 37.14 billion to Bhutan. India has allocated six billion rupees for Nepal, according to PTI. This is Rs 750 million more than last year’s budget allocation for Nepal. This allocation accounts for 5.78 per cent of India’s total foreign aid commitment.
