UML youth wing’s meeting put on hold following scuffle

Kathmandu, February 8

The central committee meeting of the youth wing of Nepal’s main opposition party has been put on hold for the last four days after a scuffle between members of rival factions.

The Youth Association meeting, which was taking place around a year-and-a-half after Rajiv Pahari was elected its president, had to be put off after members resorted to a scuffle over a dispute surrounding the legality of district committees.

On Friday, the Madhav Kumar Nepal-aligned members of the association said they want the committees to be dissolved and changes made to the charter. However, the KP Oli faction has stood against the demand.

Meanwhile, Pahari has been trying to convene the meeting for the last four days, in vain.
