Kathmandu, March 7
The CPN-UML claimed on Tuesday there were attempts in Rajbiraj, during its Mechi-Mahakali Campaign, to assassinate top leaders of the party. The main opposition has questioned the role of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi.
The party added that the United Democratic Madheshi Front should take responsibility for the recent killing of three UDMF workers in police firing in Saptari. In a press release undersigned by UML general secretary Ishwar Pokharel, the party has claimed there were attempts to encircle the UML leadership after the end of the party’s general gathering in Rajbiraj and assassinate it.
The UML, which has deferred the campaign for three days after the Saptari killings, commented publicly on the incident by organising a press conference in the party office in Dhumbarahi.
