Kathmandu, April 11
Police in the Nepalgunj city of Banke have arrested a man, reportedly a bodyguard of notorious gangster Milan Gurung aka Chakre Milan, in possession of an AK-47 without authorisation.
SP Santosh Singh Rathaur, the District Police Office chief, says Ganesh Bahadur Bogati, a resident of Naubasta, Baijanath rural municipality, in the district, was arrested today.
Earlier, a video of him escorting Gurung with an unauthorised arm was viral on social media. Gurung is currently in Nepalgunj to participate in the general convention of the youth wing of the main opposition CPN-UML.
Chakre Milan used to be one of the most notorious gangsters in the Kathmandu valley in the late 2000s along with Deepak Manange, Ganesh Lama and Raju Gorkhali. Fearing the police action, all of them joined different political parties later. Manange has already been a provincial lawmaker and minister twice.
