Kathmandu, March 12
Police have stepped up security checking in the Kathmandu Valley in view of Holi, the festival of colours.
In different parts of Kathmandu, police have set up security check posts. SSP Chhabi Lal Joshi, chief of the Metropolitan Police Complex, Kathmandu, said they have mobilised 1,000 police personnel during Holi. They have set up pickets in 107 places to bring under police net cases of drunk driving and intercept motorcycles carrying more than two people.
SSP Joshi said they will bring under police net those who drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs, those and who forcibly put colour on foreigners, SSP Joshi informed. Meanwhile, police have caught hold of some people in Kathmandu for driving under the influence of alcohol and breaking other traffic rules.
