Madhesh will boycott polls if constitution not amended: Mahato

Bhairahawa, April 4

Sadbhawana Party chief Rajendra Mahato says the country will burn if the government holds elections without amending the constitution.

Talking to medipersons in Bhairahawa, Mahato said the Madheshi Morcha was ready to unite to contest the elections if its demands were addressed by the governemnt at the earliest.

“Any election conducted without amending the constitution will only trigger unfortunate events,” he said adding that he also was in favour of elections, but it can happen only after the constitution is amended.

Mahato dismissed reports that the Morcha had agreed to put the issue of re-drawing of provincial boundaries on hold. He added that the Morcha wanted a resolution to the problem, but the government was not keen on doing so.
