Kathmandu, May 10
A youth died in a clash between cadres of CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre in Gauri Shankar Rural Municipality of Dolakha district on Tuesday night.
Kul Bahadur Tamang, son of Gore Tamang, was injured in the clash and died on his way to a hospital in Kathmandu, police said.
Gore is a UML candidate for ward member in Gauri Shankar-2 in upcoming local level elections.
Meanwhile, UML cadre Dil Bahadur Buthathoki was injured in the clash, according to Dolakha’s Assistant Chief District Officer Balkrishna Katuwal.
Also a local schoolteacher, Budhathoki is undergoing treatment at a Kathmandu-based hospital.
The Maoist party has also claimed that half dozen of its cadres including the ward chairperson candidate Bharat Khadka sustained injuries in the clash.
Whereas further investigation is underway, both sides have accused each other for the violence.
