Pokhara, May 22
The counting of votes halted since Saturday over a dispute after discovery of some allegedly forged ballot papers has resumed in Pokhara Metropolitan City of Kaski district on Monday afternoon.
The voting was halted after around 10 ballot papers from ward 17 were found to have a different size of voting symbol. The CPN-UML had received votes on those ballot papers.
Other parties had boycotted the counting demanding a fair probe into the case.
But, after repeated efforts of election officials, the parties made an agreement to resume the vote counting today.
Meanwhile, UML’s Man Bahadur GC is leading the count against the Nepali Congress candidate Ramji Kunwar, who has also received the support from CPN-Maoist Centre.
GC has garnered 21,878 votes whereas Kunwar has reached the mark of 20,049 so far.
In the deputy mayoral race also, the UML is ahead of the NC.
