Kathmandu, October 19
The CPN-UML says it is finalising first-past-the-post candidates for 32 districts of the country which will hold elections for Provincial Assembly and federal House of Representatives in the first phase on November 26.
Political parties are required to file their nominations for the phase-I polls on coming Sunday, October 22.
Top UML leaders have expedited discussions to finalise the list by Thursday night.
As the party is partnering with the CPN-Maoist Centre for both phases of the polls nation-wide, some constituencies will be left for Maoist candidates, according to the party.
The leaders involved in the discussions say most district committees have recommended the candidates unanimously. However, there is a problem in negotiations the constituencies with the Maoists, according to them.
On November 26, the Election Commission will hold voting in 37 constituencies of 32 districts of mountainous and high hilly region.
