Bhojpur, November 14
Unidentified bombers on Tuesday targeted CPN-UML politburo member and the party’s candidate for the provincial assembly Sherdhan Rai in Bhojpur district of eastern Nepal. The leader’s bodyguard sustained injuries in the incident.
Rai’s vehicle was ambushed while his team was on the way to Gogane of the district for an election campaign, inform police. ASI Dilli Devkota, who was deployed as the bodyguard of former minister, sustained injuries in his hand.
Other people, however, are unhurt, according to local UML leader Makar Khadka.
The District Police Office says it has deployed a police team for further investigation into the accident and search of the suspects.
Few days ago, some Maoist candidates were attacked in western Nepal. Police have suspected that cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led CPN Maoist were involved in the attacks.
