Kathmandu, June 13
A special committee formed to investigate into the 33.5 kg gold smuggling case has raided multiple outlets of Bajeko Sekuwa, a popular Nepali restaurant, in Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday afternoon.
The committee raided various outlets of the restaurant situated in different places of Kathmandu this afternoon.
Police raided and sealed six of 10 outlets in Kathmandu including those located in Anamnagar, Sorhakhutte, Samakhushi, Battisputali, Kamalpokhari and Gairidhara. Out of the sealed ones, five were run by owner Chetan Bhandari and one was operated by his brother-in-law (wife’s brother).
Bhandari is at large ever since his name dragged in the smuggling case.
The government has already suspended his bank accounts and withheld properties registered in his name
A case was registered against him as an absconding defendant at the Morang District Court earlier.
