Butwal, January 11
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, says the promotion of the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini, in the international market has not been sufficient yet.
Adhikari has therefore requested the Lumbini Development Trust and local tourism entrepreneurs to organise at least one special function in the region so as to attract foreign tourists.
Speaking at a function organised to inaugurate the Buddhist International Travel Mart on Friday morning, the Minister said, “Nepal is one of the best countries to travel to due to regional and natural heritage, geography and biodiversity. The more we promote, the more tourists we receive.”
He reiterated that the government would easily achieve the target of welcoming two million foreign tourists in 2020.
Adhikari claimed that government was working to attract foreign investment in Nepal’s tourism sector.
