Kathmandu, January 30
Nepal’s Ambassador to Australia, Lucky Sherpa, has taken a leave from the Canberra-based embassy and come to Kathmandu.
Of late, she has been dragged into a controversy as one of her former staff accused the envoy’s family of human trafficking activities.
It has been learned that Sherpa is tendering her resignation to the government soon. Earlier, the government had told her to quit.
Therefore, Sherpa has told embassy officials that she will not return to Canberra.
Few weeks ago, the government had summoned Sherpa to Kathmandu after the allegation came to the limelight. Upon receiving an instruction to quit, she had gone back to Australia to bring her things back.
In past three weeks, Sherpa stayed at her residence and held informal conversations with people close to her, telling them that she was innocent.
She, however, had abstained from diplomatic works.
