Kathmandu, February 28
If Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari had managed to come back to Kathmandu safe from his Pathibhara trip on Wednesday, he would have been preparing for a flight to Germany this evening.
He was scheduled to leave for Europe to attend multiple events related to mountaineering and tourism, according to the Ministry spokesperson Ghana Shyam Upadhyaya, who was scheduled to accompany the Minister in the trip.
Upadhyaya and Nepal Tourism Board CEO Deepak Raj Joshi cancelled their trips after the news of Adhikari’s death came out on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials of the Ministry inform that the Minister’s delegation was also scheduled to hold a meeting with with officials of the Munich International Airport in Germany.
They claim that the government had already made an unofficial decision to hand over the management of under-construction Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa to Munich.
Adhikari was preparing to hold a meeting with the Munich officials in his bid to finalise an agreement in this regard.
With the death of Adhikari, the talks with the Munich officials have been deferred.
