Kathmandu, June 30
Nepali Congress influential leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula says the federal system introduced in Nepal a few years ago is weakening everyday and it might collapse if not corrected on time.
Speaking with journalists at his own residence in Kathmandu on Sunday, Sitaula said many people had begun thinking that provincial governments were not necessary anymore, warning it would lead to the collapse of federalism one day.
While pro-change stakeholders failed to unite among themselves, ultra rightists and leftists forces were getting more active day by day, and it would keep federalism in jeopardy, according to him.
“The parties have their own roles on ruling and opposition sides. But, everyone should come together to consolidate the system,” he said, “But, that was not seen.”
Likewise, the provincial governments also could not perform as expected, he said.
“If they failed to act due to the interference of federal government, they should tell it openly. Otherwise, they have to perform. No one has a right to discourage the citizens.”
