Kathmandu, September 16
The Ministry of Health and Population has directed all health institutions and labs across the country not to test people for coronavirus after they die.
The ministry’s spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam announced the new decision of the ministry in his regular press briefing on Wednesday afternoon.
Before this, the hospitals and labs would test deceased also for the coronavirus to know if they died due to Covid-19 or other diseases. However, the ministry said such tests were not necessary.
The new decision is apparently intended to limit Covid-19 death tally of the country as any death is counted as a Covid-19-related death if the deceased tests positive for coronavirus.
