Panchthar, January 7
A man who had run away after allegedly murdering his wife has been found dead in Panchthar district of eastern Nepal.
Dhan Kumar Ubharkoti, 32, a resident of Subhang in Hilihang-5 of the district was found hanging from a tree in the jungle some three kilometres east of his house.
Ubharkoti had been on the run since reportedly murdering his 30-year-old wife, Durga Devi, on December 24 night. He had reportedly struck her with an axe in the head.
Locals informed police after finding Ubharkoti hanging from the tree using a plastic rope on Wednesday, according to the Panchthar District Police Office.
The body was found in a decomposed state and locals suspect that he may have committed suicide a week ago.
Further investigation into the incident is underway after a post-mortem was carried out at the District Hospital.
