Saptari, April 16
A 58-year-old man in Saptari has died after an elephant attack near the Koshi Barrage in Hanumannagar Kankalini municipality-1 of the Saptari district in southeastern Nepal on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Narayan Pranami, informs police.
Pranami was guarding wheat crops that were just cut but yet to be harvested near the barrage when the elephant attacked him at around 3 am today, informs DSP Naresh Singh, the chief of the Kanchanpur Area Police Office. He died on the spot.
The body is being taken to the Gajendra Narayan Singh Memorial Hospital in the district headquarters, Rajbiraj, for postmortem, informs DSP Madhav Prasad Kaphle, the District Police Office spokesperson.
